Inlay Stone & Wood Stimming Pendant

Each wood pendant is completely unique. We hand-carve the wood to house the stone.
The special part about these pendants are that they serve a specific purpose. Every human has a coping mechanism that allows them to adjust to changing environments, this mechanism is called stimming, self-stimmulation. Most choose a repetitive body movement, whether its rocking back and forth, sucking their thumb, touching hair, things of that nature. The pendants are shaped to replicate the natural curves of the body in order sooth the wearer with a simple touch.

Believe it or not, they absolutely worked for the individuals who  have tried it. These pieces are not just meant to be fancy, or beautiful, they are meant to create comfort and expose confidence.

Meet Rowen Our Handbag/Backpack

Meet Rowen!!  A Rustic leather Handbag/Backpack that was built to last. There is a balance of functional space and pockets to keep the wearer organized but not overwhelmed with compartments. Hidden slip pockets are located on either side of the bag for cup holders, as well as zipper pockets located on the front panel of the slip pocket for addition storage. The gusset is expandable for easy access, and the interior not only exposes the pride of our craftsmanship with partial lining, but also has elements of hand-painted gestural cicadas along the bottom of the bag.

I am sure the additional details might sometimes be excessive, but this has become a way of expressing our passion for our craft. Some seem to understand,  while others still believe our time should be spent on quantity rather then quality.

New take on a work boot

A new take on an artists work boot... This is just a sample shoe of a boot meant to be multi-functional.
The features include a detachable sock lining. The front panel of the boot is piped with wire for unique styling and a snap is hidden inside the lining to snap down the front panel toward the toe. This is just the beginning of multi-functional footwear.

Meet Alva the Handmade Alligator Clutch

She is a special one, my little Alva. At the moment I am attending Savannah College of Art and design to receive a Masters in Accessory Design. There was a competition, 6 kids were chosen to create 4 products from Alligator skins. The mission was to utilize the skin as best as possible. So from one hide 4 products were born and Alva was one of them. It is a medium size clutch with a collapsable guest and a hand carved wood zipper pull that is backed with nu gold. The interior has 6 credit card slots as well as one large slip pocket. So excited to see how she does in the finals.

HAPPY 83rd BIRTHDAY OPA

This is the man I  am so proud to introduce. My Opa has been my inspiration since a child. Of course comes the natural fixation of loving your grandparents, but he has proven to be much more then just any average human being. This extraordinarily hard working man is capable of fixing just about anything. He has shown me a true example of passion for your craft, and what it means to work hard.
Growing up in Bavaria with 7 brothers and sisters during the war gave him a unique perspective on the world. His father was a Granite stone worker, digging wells to bring home money to support his large family.
My Opa's obsession with mechanics and the functional properties of objects started at a young age, when he would pull apart toys to see the inner workings. But with guidance in carpentry and studying gears at a technical college, he naturally became a fixing machine.
There are so many factors to why this man has always left a magical glow within me. At times he might seem to be stuck in his German ways, but he is so uniquely him, and so beautifully different then any other soul. Humble and hardworking is how I would describe him. I love every aspect of who he is, and am so honored to grow up having him as my inspiration.
HAPPY 83rd BIRTHDAY OPA!!

Handmade Leather side Pouch

This small hip pouch has several special features that I am so proud to share. This paisley print scarf was my Omas, sadly she passed away and this is what I had left of her. I attempted to replicate the print with acrylic leather paint, and paint markers, on a molded piece of Veg tan leather.
Attempting new ways to construct the handles. Although I realize I am far from perfection or if there is such a thing.

Yes is truly just a mock up of what is to come. But I am excited to have explored this construction.

Unique Wood Pendents

Each product provides an unexplainable intimate experience. Considering the amount of time and thought that went into the labor of just one item is astounding and worth mentioning. I truly wish there was a way to bring the process of the production to life. Although the finished products are wonderful to gaze at, the beauty lies within the making. The intricate details are what create that breathtaking finish. Since I at the moment am the one and only working on creating, producing, selling, photographing, and all that comes with the beginnings to a business, I find a lack of energy in each department. One day I hope to bring the true strength of Ophilya to life and expose the beauty of the process. Baby steps!

Handmade Low-Wedge Ballerina Slip ons.

I finally have made myself a unique pair of ballerina flats. I have been on this kick with, what I call, the frankenstein wedge.
I dislike not being able to wear heels for long periods of time, all the blood rushing towards my feet while signs of blisters emerge. So to solve this issue of mine, I have created a simple slip on wedge that easily converts from dressy to casual. So excited to wear them out.

Portfolio Presentation

I had an interview so I thought it might be nice to categorize and display the work that I have done on four 9X12 pages. Although this is just a brief summary of the work, it gives an idea of whats to come.
