Welcome To Our Humble Abode

It is time to introduce the place in which I craft. I truly believe that all artists are effected by their surrounds, so thankfully with the mixture of creativity amongst my family we have created an oasis. Buried within the trees lies this beautiful home on top the hill. But sadly, only a few weeks, and I will be moving to Savannah, GA, leaving my craft comfort home behind. So of course I found it important to show my readers our welcoming place for creative minds.

Hand-carved Buckeye Burl Wood Pendent

With each piece we truly dedicate time, and love to complete every detail. This Pendent is hand carved out of Buckeye Burl.

Just to inform the readers, Burl is the part of wood which exposes the knots, which makes it a little more difficult to work with, but when is it complete, the grain is magnificent

To compliment the beautiful shades of blues and greens within the wood, we have embedded a Tiger Eye stone into the face of the pendent. The chain is a antique chain with a strong magnetic clasp.

Features which you miss by not being able to experience this piece up close, is the smooth shape of the pendent. We have begun building upon this idea of stimming. Stimming is also known as self-stimulation, which is created by a repetitive movement that triggers the calmness of nerves. Organic shapes seem to calm the nerves and sooth some from bad habits. At first this idea seemed far fetched, but it has truly proven to work. We strive for products of purpose.

Intense Heat of Boredom

As the winter months drag on to an excruciating time span, I find myself with nothing to do but get creative...

So one day while siting quietly at the computer scanning for inspired thought. Photo Booth flashing for updates suddenly caught my eye. In a flash I pop up the screen to assess the situation, when it dawned on me the unproductive value for a mid-day photo shoot, but I proceeded to click the snapshot button. As the camera counted down I shifted into position, and while some might take this opportunity to perform their most graceful pose into the mini camera upon the computer screen. I instead pointed my finger up at the ceiling in reaction to this awkwardly genius idea. With this intense brightness of complexion showing upon my face from blaring light in front of me, I felt as though I some how managed to dabble into the art of magic; and with this great, nerd filled pride, have created with the assistance of PhotoBooth, the art of illusion.

My Introduction

   Hello,

Please call me Ophilya. I am a leather crafter, wood whittler, shoe making artist. Inspired by my surroundings I find pleasure in being the creator of new innovative design. I find myself drawing towards rustic material with a twist of color and life. I believe that the accessories which we adorn our bodies with should reflect the inner soul. How ever poetic that sounds, I believe this with all my heart. So as I present my life work through photos of handmade products which are made from exotic wood and luxury leathers, I hope you may join me on this journey of expanding the artistic side of accessory design. Come dream with me!
